Pre-gelatinized starches


Starch is the primary source of dietary carbohydrates, found in many fruits and vegetables, in pasta, bread and beans. Our partner Kröner Stärke refines the starch from wheat, corn, rice or tapioca. Those are the pure, native starches. Depending on the intended application, these starches are processed into modified starch (not to be confused with genetically modified starch). Due to the treatment of native starches, physical, enzymatic or chemical, the properties can change: for example, the starches can be used in foods as a thickener, stabilizer or emulsifier, or to replace potato flakes or eggs.
